I needed a functional durable bag for my new MacBook: The STM Small Alley Case is well made and a perfect fit for the computer and it's got several pockets for my external mouse and the power brick and cord. It's also got a couple of document-sized pockets (front and back) that will hold a small paperback or some files. And though I'm not likely to use it the bag comes with a little removable velcro-closure cellphone/mouse pouch on the shoulder strap.
I like the vertical configuration and the notebook pocket looks to be adequately padded. Solid construction durable nylon zippers nice color (I got the carbon). Good-looking and should last awhile. If you're looking for a sturdy bag that fits the MacBook and carries the essentials this one is worth checking out.
NB: The Alley comes in a larger size to accommodate 15-inch laptops. And despite what the product description says the pockets aren't baggy mesh (of which I'm not a fan) - they're made of the same sturdy material as the rest of the bag.
